My name is Sophie Halford

I am an NCPS accredited psychotherapist who works mainly with adults and teenagers.

Outside of work I am a Mum to three boys and a wife.  I have brightly coloured hair, I love dogs, I enjoy film nights, going to gigs and dislike running!

Mental health struggles have been a part of my life since my early teenage years and I have turned to both hypnotherapy and counselling to guide me through difficult times.  In 2019, after a period of effective personal therapy, I made the decision to train as a hypnotherapist and counsellor.  Home schooling three children all with different needs and studying at home during the pandemic was not an easy task, but I persevered and qualified with a diploma in hypnotherapy in 2021.

Since then I have qualified with a level 5 professional diploma in psychotherapeutic counselling with the Princes Trust in April 2024. I am interested in working in areas of grief, anxiety and trauma. Since setting up in practice I have had success working with people on the ASD spectrum to help them manage their anxiety.

I am currently completing CPD to become an ADHD clinical services provider.

“The strongest people are not those who show strength in front of the world but those who fight and win battles that others do not know anything about.”

Jonathan Harnisch, The Brutal Truth

  • “When I first came to counselling I didn’t know what to expect, I had no previous experience with counselling and I found myself quite shy and reserved. After only a couple of sessions with Sophie I started to open up to her and the trust I felt with her was unexpected, I never thought I could be so open and honest with a complete stranger.”

  • “Sophie helped me understand myself more than I ever felt like I have before in my life. I truly can't thank her enough for the difference she has made to my life since losing my father.”

  • “She really helped pull my life back around and I really don't know where is be now if it wasn't for these sessions. I'm so much happier now coming out the other side of them, in what feels like a short year my life has completely turned around and changed for the better and I can't thank Sophie enough for that.”
